At the end of 2024, the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance (“SPA/MF”) issued the first ordinances granting licenses for online betting sites to operate in Brazil.
In this initial batch, 14 companies received licenses from the SPA/MF to provide their services on 31 different online betting sites in Brazil.
In addition to these 14 companies, another 52 received provisional licenses for a period of 30 days, extendable for an equal period, due to minor pending issues to be addressed, such as completing the submitted documentation or providing information on required certifications.
Thus, starting January 1, 2025, only licensed online betting sites with the “bet.br” domain are authorized to offer online betting services, in accordance with SPA/MF regulations.
