Partner Gustavo Coelho was interviewed by the Bitcoin Portal/UOL newspaper in an article by Alexandre Antunes about the submission of notices to major cryptocurrency exchanges by the Brazilian Competition Authority (CADE).
These notices are related to the Administrative Inquiry No. 08700.003599/2018-95, which investigates the occurrence of anti-competitive conducts practiced by financial institutions against cryptocurrency exchanges.
When questioned about the Exchanges’ refusal to provide the information requested by CADE and the possible application of fines, Gustavo clarified that the cryptocurrency exchanges may be subject to the application of fines of R$ 500.00 (five hundred reais) up to R$ 15,000.00 (fifteen thousand reais) for each failure to comply with the submission of the requested information.
