Partner Gustavo Flausino Coelho participated in the event “State Incentives for Innovation and the Intersection between Intellectual Property and Antitrust Law” organized by the Competition Law Committee (“CDCOR”) of the Brazilian Bar Association, Rio de Janeiro State Chapter (“OAB/RJ”).
Besides the partner Gustavo Flausino Coelho, the debate panel included João Marcelo de Lima Assafim (president of CDCOR of OABRJ, lawyer and professor at UFRJ), Manuel Botana Agra (Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela), Patrícia Sampaio (Getúlio Vargas Foundation-RJ), Lucas Antoniazzi (lawyer and Co-Coordinator of ABPI’s Competition Commission) and Lucas Caminha ( Legal Manager of C6 Bank and Secretary General of OAB/RJ’s CDCOR).
In theoretical and practical approaches, the speakers provided important reflections on the significant intersection between state incentives for innovation and the crucial relationship between Intellectual Property and Antitrust Law. During the event, the importance of public policies aimed at protecting intellectual property and defending competition was highlighted as essential pillars for fostering an environment conducive to technological progress and economic development.
The event took place on November 24, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., in the Evandro Lins e Silva Plenary, at the OAB/RJ headquarters.
