On October 11, the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance (“SPA/MF”) requested the blocking of more than 2,000 betting sites in the country that were operating without having applied for authorization from the Ministry of Finance.
The blocking follows the provisions of Ordinance no. 1,475/2024, of September 17, 2024, analyzed in this newsletter, which established that only the betting sites that applied for the license from the Ministry of Finance could provisionally offer their services until a decision regarding the license request is made.
In addition, SPA/MF created a list, available in Portuguese on this site, with the betting sites that are allowed to continue operating nationwide until the end of 2024, the deadline for the evaluation of all their authorization requests, as well as those that are licensed in certain states.
